The 5th Datuk Sebastian’s Education and Career Fair 2026 has officially come to an end.

Looking back, we never imagined that we would reach the 5th edition, but this journey has been truly meaningful, not just in organising an event, but in building friendships, partnerships, and a ...shared mission to serve our community.

This year, we introduced a new element > the District Level General Knowledge Competition, organised together with PPD Miri. It was a great experience, although it came with its own challenges, particularly in terms of technical requirements and internet connectivity. These are valuable lessons, and we will definitely improve and come back stronger next year.

We are also grateful to continue the SPM Incentive Programme, now in its second year, where 129 students who achieved 9A and above received recognition and support. Thanks to our sponsors SOCOE Sdn Bhd, MMS Miri and Datuk Sebastian. With God’s blessing and the availability of funds, we hope to extend this initiative to benefit even more students in the coming years.

In terms of impact:
🎓 Education Fair – Over 800 registered students and more than 1,300 parents attended to seek information and guidance.
💼 Career Fair – A total of 730 job opportunities were offered by 31 companies, resulting in 1,344 interviews conducted.
✔️ 43 candidates secured jobs on the spot
📌 515 candidates were shortlisted for second interviews
📊 791 candidates were unsuccessful and something we will work closely with PERKESO to analyse and improve moving forward.

These numbers reflect not just participation, but real opportunities and real outcomes for our community.

I would like to express my utmost gratitude to YB Datuk Sebastian for his trust and continuous support in allowing me to organise this meaningful event for the people of Miri.

My sincere appreciation also goes to the organising committees from MEIS and SUPP Miri (Piasau) Youth Branch, as well as all volunteers including those from Curtin Volunteers and other organisations for your dedication and hard work.

Special thanks to our co-organisers:
PPD Miri, PERKESO Miri Branch, and MMS Miri for your strong collaboration in making this large-scale event a success.

This has truly been an amazing and inspiring journey. More importantly, it is a reminder that when we come together with a shared purpose, we can create meaningful impact for the next generation.

Looking forward to an even better 2027. 💪🎓✨

Datuk Sebastian’s 5th Education and Career Fair 2026 – Day 1 has come to a successful close. Here are some photos capturing the highlights of the day. Thank you to all the organising committee members and volunteers for your hard work and dedication in making Day 1 a great success! 🙌🎉
...
We remain committed to doing more for our future generations, which is why we have continued to organise the 5th edition of Datuk Sebastian’s Education and Career Fair this year.

It is our sincere hope that all Form 5 and Form 6 students who attended today were able to gain valuable insights, discover new opportunities, and have a clearer direction on what they want to pursue in their future.

At the same time, we recognise that not every student’s pathway is the same. While some may choose to further their academic studies, others may excel in technical skills, hands-on trades, or vocational fields. Both pathways are equally important, and we want to ensure that no one is left behind.

Through this platform, we aim to connect students with education institutions, industry players, and career opportunities, so that every young person, regardless of their strengths, can find a path that suits them.

This is more than just an event. It is a step towards building a stronger, more inclusive future, where every individual is empowered to grow, contribute, and succeed. 💪🎓✨

A beautiful night of Raya visiting at Kampung Pulau Melayu 🌙✨

Glad to join Mr Wahab and family together with Penghulu Hj Samad and friends for a meaningful evening filled with warmth, laughter, and heartfelt conversations.

What makes Raya special is not just the celebration, ...but the moments like these, where we come together, strengthen friendships, and build deeper connections within our community.

In a diverse society like ours, it is these simple gatherings that remind us of the true spirit of unity, respect, and togetherness 🤝

Thank you to Mr Wahab and family for the generous hospitality and for opening your home to everyone. Truly appreciate the warmth and sincerity.

Deputised YB Datuk Sebastian to attend The Great Escape (TGE) 2026 at Curtin University Malaysia yesterday, with YB Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin as the Guest of Honour.

TGE continues to be a meaningful initiative by the Curtin Social Ambassadors (CSA), providing an excellent platform for ...secondary school students to explore tertiary education, build confidence, and develop essential life skills through workshops, interactive sessions, and team-building activities.

This year, the programme saw the participation of 120 students, and I would also like to extend my appreciation to the participating schools for making the necessary arrangements to enable their students to attend and benefit from this experience.

My sincere congratulations to the organising committee for another successful camp — especially to Organising Chairperson Eunice and Vice Organising Chairperson Darren, together with the dedicated team of CSA volunteers. Your commitment and passion in empowering young minds and shaping future leaders are truly commendable.

Programmes like TGE play an important role in inspiring our students, broadening their horizons, and helping them better prepare for the next stage of their academic journey. It is encouraging to see such initiatives continue to grow and make a positive impact on our community.

Well done to everyone involved, and I look forward to seeing more young talents nurtured through this meaningful programme. 👏🎓✨
