🚴♂️ A brighter pump track for our riders! 💡
I recently represented YB Datuk Sebastian Ting to visit the completed N73 Piasau Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project at the Velosolutions Pump Track in Miri.
The project supplied six units of high-mast lighting to ...illuminate the track, providing riders with a brighter environment for their practice.
Facilities like this give our community, especially young people, a place to stay active, develop their skills and enjoy cycling together. I am glad to see this improvement completed for the benefit of the riders and the wider community.

Sekolah yang lebih baik untuk anak-anak kita bermula dengan semangat kebersamaan. ❤️
Sabtu lalu, saya berbesar hati mewakili YB Datuk Sebastian untuk merasmikan Program Aerobikton Amal anjuran Persatuan Ibu Bapa dan Guru (PIBG) SK St Joseph.
Terima kasih kepada pihak PIBG dan ...sekolah atas jemputan kepada YB Datuk Sebastian serta kesudian menerima saya sebagai wakil beliau.
Di sebalik program senaman dan usaha mengumpul dana ini, ada matlamat yang kita kongsi bersama: menyediakan persekitaran pembelajaran yang lebih baik agar anak-anak dapat mengembangkan potensi mereka.
Guru-guru menyumbangkan masa dan tenaga untuk menjayakan program. Ibu bapa tampil memberikan sokongan serta membantu kutipan dana. PIBG pula menjadi penghubung penting untuk menggerakkan usaha bersama demi kebajikan dan pencapaian murid.
Kerajaan turut memainkan peranan melalui sokongan kewangan bagi pembangunan dan penambahbaikan infrastruktur sekolah.
Setiap pihak membawa sumbangan yang berbeza, tetapi tujuannya sama, masa depan anak-anak kita. Apabila sekolah, ibu bapa, PIBG dan kerajaan berganding bahu, lebih banyak usaha dapat direalisasikan.
Tahniah dan terima kasih kepada semua yang menjayakan Aerobikton Amal SK St Joseph. Setiap sumbangan, sama ada tenaga, masa mahupun wang ringgit, amat bermakna. 🙏🏼

Represented YB Datuk Sebastian to the Curtin Chemistry Debate 2026 organised by the American Chemical Society (ACS) Student Chapter at Curtin University and supported ACS.
Congratulations to all the winners and participants! 👏
I believe everyone who had the courage to step up ...to the podium has already gained something valuable from this experience.
What I particularly appreciate about this competition is how it brings chemistry beyond the classroom, connecting scientific knowledge with real-life issues while encouraging students to think critically, evaluate evidence, communicate their ideas clearly and respectfully engage with different viewpoints.
These are skills that go far beyond chemistry. Whatever career our young people choose in the future, the ability to understand evidence, communicate complex ideas and make thoughtful decisions will always be valuable.
Keep asking questions, keep learning from one another, and most importantly, think about how the knowledge and skills you gain today can contribute back to our society. 💪
My appreciation to Curtin University, the organising committee, lecturers and judges for providing this meaningful platform for our students.

Selamat Hari Malaysia ke-63
Today, as we celebrate Malaysia Day, let us take a moment to remember some of the important dates that shaped the journey towards the Malaysia we know today.
📅 31 August 1957 — Independence of the Federation of ...Malaya
The Federation of Malaya achieved independence from British rule.
📅 22 July 1963 — Sarawak Self-Government
Sarawak was granted self-government, with Sarawakians taking responsibility for the administration of the state and Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan becoming its first Chief Minister.
📅 31 August 1963 — Sabah Self-Government
Sabah, then known as North Borneo, marked the end of British colonial administration and the beginning of self-government.
📅 16 September 1963 — Formation of Malaysia 🇲🇾
Sixteen days later, the Federation of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore came together to form Malaysia, following the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
These dates are not competing histories. They are different chapters of the same Malaysian story.
Understanding them helps us appreciate the journeys of Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak before they came together in 1963, and why 16 September holds such significance in our shared history.
As Malaysians, remembering our history should bring greater understanding and respect for one another across regions, cultures and generations.
63 years later, may we continue moving forward together, respecting the foundations upon which Malaysia was formed while building a stronger and more prosperous future for everyone.

⚠️ HAZE UPDATE – PLEASE TAKE CARE, MIRI
The haze situation across Sarawak has worsened, with several areas already recording Hazardous air quality. Here in Miri, the API/IPU reading is currently within the Unhealthy range and appears to be increasing, so please take the necessary ...precautions, especially if you need to spend time outdoors.
According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), children, elderly persons and those who are more vulnerable to the effects of air pollution should take extra care during this period.
Everyone is advised to reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities, keep doors and windows closed where appropriate, stay well hydrated, and monitor the latest official API readings. If outdoor exposure is unavoidable during significant haze, wear a properly fitted N95 mask where possible.
Please seek medical attention if you experience breathing difficulties, chest discomfort, persistent coughing, severe eye irritation or other worsening symptoms.
The Sarawak Government and relevant agencies are closely monitoring the situation. Cloud seeding has been identified for 3–5 September, subject to suitable cloud formations and atmospheric conditions. Cloud seeding cannot create rain without suitable clouds, and the operation is also intended to help replenish dams and water supply sources affected by the prolonged dry spell.
Some parts of Sarawak are already experiencing Hazardous air quality, so even though Miri has not reached that level, let us not take the situation lightly.
Please take care of yourself and your family, especially our children and elderly. Drink plenty of water, minimise unnecessary outdoor activities and continue monitoring the official updates.
