Lawatan dibuat pada waktu malam agar sudut pencahayaan dapat diteliti dengan tepat dan memastikan lampu ...dipasang pada lokasi yang paling sesuai.

Tonight, I went on the ground to Kampung Pulau Melayu and Kampung Wireless to inspect the implementation of the RTP project for installing flood lights and street lighting requested by YB Datuk Sebastian. We conducted the visit at night to ensure that the lighting angles are accurate and suitable. Thank you to all the JKKK members for joining us on-site.

We also identified several dark spots in the area, and we will inform YB Datuk Sebastian and work towards addressing them.

Saya turun ke Kampung Tudan Desaras semalam untuk meninjau keadaan di kampung. Banyak rumah dibina tanpa kerja penambakan tanah yang mencukupi serta tanpa sistem culvert yang sepatutnya. Keadaan ini menyebabkan air hujan tidak dapat mengalir dengan baik ke longkang monsun berdekatan, sekali gus ...mengakibatkan limpahan air ketika hujan lebat.

Saya akan bekerjasama dengan pihak berkuasa berkaitan untuk meneliti dan menambah baik sistem perparitan di kawasan ini. Ini termasuk mengenal pasti lokasi kritikal, pemasangan culvert yang sesuai, serta meningkatkan aliran pelepasan air bagi memastikan komuniti lebih terlindung pada masa hadapan.

Two days ago, many of us received the weather forecast warning us of possible heavy downpour. Miri was hit hard in several areas, with some residential zones even experiencing landslides. Today, I have received many messages, and I fully understand the anger, frustration, and fear felt by our ...community.

Please know that we hear you, and we are with you. I am working closely with the Council’s Engineering Department and all relevant agencies to respond as quickly as possible and to ensure the necessary support reaches affected residents.

Earlier today, I visited impacted sites together with YB Datuk Sebastian to assess the situation on the ground and coordinate immediate actions with the respective agencies. Our priority is to safeguard lives, stabilise affected areas, and prevent further damage.

The latest forecast indicates that heavy rain may continue into tomorrow. I urge everyone to stay alert, take precautionary measures, and move valuable items to higher or safer locations. Please prioritise your safety and the safety of your families. I visited the erosion site yesterday morning together with the Council’s engineering team after receiving feedback from our jogger community. Following the earlier site inspection by YB Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin and Deputy Mayor Ariffin a few months ago, the Council’s Engineering Department has ...been actively working to secure funding, prepare drawings and the Bill of Quantities (BQ), and had planned for tendering in November.
.
However, the recent worsening of the erosion has rendered the previous tender scope no longer viable. As an immediate mitigation measure, the engineering team has reinforced the affected area with additional canvas sheets to reduce further rainwater impact. A section of Jalan Hills will also be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of nearby residents. Joggers are advised to keep a safe distance from the site and utilise the lower section of the park for their safety.

YB Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, in his capacity as the Minister in charge of the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee, has successfully secured emergency funding from SDMC to address the situation. A coordination meeting with JKR and all relevant utility agencies has been scheduled for this morning to expedite the necessary works.

Attended the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party 2025 Annual Delegates’ Conference.
Witnessed the handover for the RTP project involving the proposed upgrading works of the Bumiko Basketball Court, representing YB Datuk Sebastian. The session was attended by Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) Bumiko, where the site was officially handed over from Miri City Council to the Jawatankuasa ...Kemajuan dan Keselamatan Kampung (JKKK) Pusat Bandar Miri by Kapitan Aries Leong. The project has been allocated a three-month completion period.

The refurbishment request was submitted by KRT Bumiko to YB Datuk Sebastian, highlighting the need to resurface the basketball court, add benches, install fencing, replace the basketball boards and rings, and carry out repair works on the gutter and drainage system.

Datuk Sebastian has always placed strong emphasis on community health and recreational wellbeing. Under the N73 constituency, significant RTP funding has been channelled towards upgrading green spaces, sports facilities, and community recreation areas across various kampung and residential zones.

Visited the EV Charging Station at Boulevard 101 Commercial Centre together with our City Infrastructure (CI) councillors. This project, led by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) in collaboration with Gentari, marks another significant step in Sarawak’s green mobility agenda. The Miri station will be ...the largest in the State and will feature the highest-rated DC Fast Charger at 240kW.

SEB has strategically planned for one charging station every 200km to support the Sarawak Government’s commitment to renewable energy development, in line with the Sarawak Energy Transition Policy (SET-P). Existing stations are already operational at Kuching Boulevard, LePaPa Sri Aman Square (Simanggang), and Town Square Commercial Centre (Ibraco Bintulu). Upon the completion of the Miri station, the next installation will be in Sibu.

The charging fee for all DC Fast Charging (DCFC) stations is fixed at RM1.40/kWh.

The investigation officer and his superior should be liable to the wrongdoings since they did not execute rightfully for the task and power that had been empowered to them.
