Attended the Miri Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (MCCGT) Neighbourly Dialogue for Q3 2025, organised by PETROS. I commend PETROS for taking the initiative to engage with stakeholders and the local community by providing updates on project progress, sharing upcoming plans, and most importantly, ...listening to community feedback. Such openness and proactive communication truly reflect PETROS’s confidence, professionalism, and commitment to transparency as one of Sarawak’s leading corporations.

Sarawak now generates 5.7 GW of power, with 70% coming from renewable sources — mainly from our major hydroelectric dams (Bakun, Murum, Batang Ai, and soon Baleh) and rapidly expanding solar projects like the Batang Ai Floating Solar Farm, Malaysia’s first and largest of its kind.

The MCCGT Project, led by PETROS Power, represents another key milestone — a 500 MW hydrogen-ready plant that will strengthen energy security in Northern Sarawak while supporting our long-term hydrogen economy and renewable integration goals.

This project not only ensures reliable electricity for Miri, Limbang, and Lawas but also opens new opportunities for skilled jobs, technology transfer, and innovation — turning Miri into a future energy and innovation hub.

Together, we are building a balanced and sustainable energy ecosystem, working towards Sarawak’s vision of achieving 10 GW by 2030 and positioning our State as the Battery of ASEAN.
