Bersama Tuan Haji Ariffin Bin Mohamad selaku Ketua Cawangan PBB Piasau merangkap Timbalan Datuk Bandar Miri, saya berkesempatan menziarahi Saudara Nor Mohamed yang sedang menerima rawatan di Hospital Miri.
Saya telah mengenali Saudara Nor Mohamed sejak beliau aktif di JKKK Kampung Lereng ...Bukit serta penglibatan beliau dalam PBB. Saya turut dimaklumkan oleh isteri beliau, Puan Norani, bahawa keadaan kesihatannya kini semakin stabil dan beliau telah dibenarkan pulang ke rumah untuk berehat serta meneruskan proses pemulihan.
Pada kesempatan ini, saya ingin merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan dan ucapan terima kasih kepada YB Datuk Sebastian Ting atas keprihatinan dan bantuan yang diberikan dalam menguruskan keperluan tong gas oksigen untuk kegunaan Saudara Nor Mohamed. Bantuan yang dihulurkan amat bermakna dan sedikit sebanyak dapat meringankan beban keluarga beliau ketika menghadapi saat yang mencabar ini.
Kami mendoakan agar Saudara Nor Mohamed terus diberikan kekuatan, ketabahan dan kesembuhan yang berpanjangan. Semoga segala urusan rawatan dan pemulihan beliau dipermudahkan serta beliau dapat kembali sihat untuk bersama keluarga.

Saudara Kah Furng and I visited the water collection point this evening to inspect the preparations. I am pleased to share that all necessary arrangements have been completed, and the facility is fully ready to serve the public should any households require water during this period.
This ...operation has been carefully planned and well coordinated by the relevant agencies, a significant improvement compared to the unexpected disruption in 2022, when the situation arose suddenly and caught many by surprise.
As of 8:30pm, it is drizzling in the CBD area. Let us hope and pray for favourable weather conditions at the work site so that the maintenance works can be carried out safely and without delay.
Most importantly, let us keep in our thoughts all the personnel working tirelessly through the night to ensure the job is completed successfully and that water supply can be restored to normal within the scheduled 24-hour period.

An update on the Jalan Hill repair works, the project is progressing according to schedule. 👍
The earth-filling and piling works have been completed, and the contractor is currently proceeding with the formwork construction for the drainage system.
The next critical stage will ...be the concrete pouring works. Hopefully, we will continue to have good weather conditions in the coming days so that the works can proceed smoothly and according to schedule.
Thank you to the contractor, engineers, and all parties involved for their continuous efforts in ensuring the repair works are carried out safely and efficiently. We look forward to seeing the project completed and the area restored for the benefit of residents and road users.

I visited Jalan Hill last week together with fellow councillors and Council engineers to receive an update from the contractor regarding the ongoing repair works at the site.
According to the contractor, preparations for the construction works are currently underway, including the ordering... and mobilisation of materials. I have also been informed that some of the materials have already arrived on site, and soil delivery for earth-filling works has commenced following the recent good weather conditions.
We hope for continued good weather in the coming week so that the earth-filling works can be completed before the long Gawai holiday period, allowing sufficient time for ground settlement before the next stage of works.
I have also requested the contractor to expedite the installation of proper hoarding and safety measures at the site. In the meantime, members of the public are advised not to go near the affected area until all repair works are fully completed for safety reasons.

The Jalan Airport road is an important access road for residents staying at Taman Delight and the surrounding areas to commute to work and return home daily. The road was identified with a soil erosion issue in January 2025 following the heavy downpour that affected Miri.
The affected site... contains a culvert crossing beneath the road, which channels water discharge from Miri Airport. Historically, this was part of the natural stream flow before the water was diverted towards the drain beside IPG and eventually to the sea. Based on satellite imagery, the road alignment and discharge point have existed since at least 2001.
Since the erosion was first identified, the matter has been continuously monitored and reported to Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) Miri Branch, as the road falls within the same land parcel gazetted for Miri Airport. In the meantime, Miri City Council has assisted by installing safety signs and barricades, as well as constructing a temporary diversion lane to ensure road users do not travel too close to the affected area. Regular monitoring and inspections have also been carried out.
During the latest inspection, it was found that water seepage had occurred beneath the culvert, causing further erosion of the soil underneath and resulting in slight tilting of the structure. As an emergency mitigation measure, the Council constructed a gabion beneath the culvert earlier this year to prevent further movement and possible collapse. However, this is only a temporary solution.
A further coordination meeting was subsequently held with MAHB Miri, where we were informed that the land is registered under Jabatan Ketua Pengarah Tanah dan Galian Persekutuan (JKPTG).
As Chairman of the Miri City Council City Infrastructure Standing Committee, I called for a coordination meeting attended by the Council Engineering Department, DID, Land & Survey, Sarawak Energy, Sarawak Water and JKPTG Sarawak on Tuesday. From the discussion, it was confirmed that the land falls under JKPTG ownership but is gazetted for airport purposes, and there are still ongoing discussions on which agency or ministry will undertake the permanent repair works.
Nonetheless, a joint site visit involving JKPTG, MOT and MAHB Headquarters has been scheduled, and we hope all parties will be able to attend next week so that the remaining issues can be resolved as soon as possible.
I have also requested for another technical site visit involving Deputy Mayor Ariffin, fellow Councillors and the relevant local agencies to work on the long-term solution, including the proposed design and cost estimation, so that the proposal can be expedited and formally presented to JKPTG, MOT and MAHB Headquarters for further action.

Conducted a site visit to Centre Point 1 Commercial Centre this morning together with Cr Rahim, Chairman of the Public Health and Licensing Standing Committee, alongside Council officers and appointed contractors.
During the visit, we inspected the drain flushing works carried out by the... contractor, engaged with the contractors and their workers regarding the services provided and challenges faced on site, and met with business owners to discuss improvements to discharge systems, cleanliness, waste management, infrastructure conditions, obstructions, and licensing matters.
We are pleased that the business community responded positively to the visit and expressed their commitment to working together with the Council to improve the area and comply with Council requirements. Some business owners also shared that they required further clarification on certain requirements, and arrangements have been made for follow-up visits to provide advice and guidance on compliance and renovation matters.
We also identified several abandoned and unsightly premises resulting from demolition works or business closures. Efforts will be made to contact the respective property owners to ensure the areas are properly cleaned and maintained.
