Saya ingin merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan dan ucapan terima kasih kepada Sdr Edward bersama seluruh Ahli Jawatankuasa Kampung yang telah bertungkus-lumus ...merancang, menyelaras dan menjayakan program ini untuk manfaat penduduk kampung. Kejayaan penganjuran sambutan ini jelas mencerminkan semangat kerjasama, perpaduan dan gotong-royong yang kuat dalam komuniti setempat.

Ucapan terima kasih juga saya tujukan kepada pihak JKKK Kampung Pasir Lutong atas jemputan yang diberikan kepada YB Datuk Sebastian Ting serta kesudian menerima kehadiran saya sebagai wakil beliau pada majlis tersebut.

Sambutan seperti ini bukan sahaja mengeratkan hubungan silaturahim sesama penduduk, malah menjadi platform penting untuk memelihara dan memperkenalkan warisan budaya yang kaya kepada generasi muda dan masyarakat pelbagai kaum.

I had the honour of representing YB Datuk Sebastian Ting in visiting the homes of Sdri Evelyn and Sdri Nora in conjunction with the Gawai celebration.

It was a wonderful opportunity to meet with residents and friends from the community, share in the festive spirit, and strengthen the bonds... of friendship and unity that make Sarawak so special.

My sincere appreciation to Sdri Evelyn, Sdri Nora, their families, and organising teams for the warm hospitality, generous reception, and the delicious traditional food prepared for all the guests.

I would also like to commend the hosts for arranging cultural presentations and demonstrations that allowed guests from different backgrounds to learn more about and appreciate the rich traditions, customs, and heritage of the Iban community. Such cultural exchanges help foster greater understanding, mutual respect, and harmony among the various races and communities in our multicultural society.

I have led the City Infrastructure Standing Committee in a knowledge-sharing session with Ir. Dr. Muhaimin and Ir. Ana Salmi from JKR Headquarters on the guidelines and best practices for solar street lighting implementation.

The global energy crisis is not a new phenomenon, and energy ...security will continue to be one of the key challenges faced by cities and nations in the years ahead. Sarawak is fortunate to have visionary leadership that has consistently planned for the future and invested in sustainable energy development. Today, more than 70% of Sarawak’s energy generation mix comes from renewable sources, primarily hydropower, placing our state among the leaders in green energy transition in the region.#

As a city, Miri has embarked on a journey to align ourselves with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are continuously exploring infrastructure solutions that are more sustainable, resilient, energy efficient, and capable of reducing carbon emissions while maintaining public safety and service delivery.

Street lighting is one of the key components of urban infrastructure. Solar street lighting presents an alternative solution that can provide illumination, improve public safety, reduce long-term operating costs, and lower our environmental footprint.

This sharing session has provided valuable insights into technical standards, design considerations, maintenance requirements, and implementation strategies.

My sincere appreciation to Ir. Dr. Muhaimin, Ir. Ana Salmi, and the team from JKR Headquarters for taking the time to share their expertise and experience with us.

Happy Dragon Boat Festival!

The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the... 5th day of the 5th lunar month. It commemorates Qu Yuan, a respected poet and statesman who was known for his loyalty and love for his country.

People celebrate the festival by eating rice dumplings (zongzi), watching or participating in dragon boat races, and spending time with family and friends. These traditions symbolise unity, teamwork, remembrance, and cultural heritage.

What greeting should we use?

Traditionally, Chinese people nowadays prefer:

端午安康
(Wishing you peace, health and well-being during Dragon Boat Festival)

rather than

端午节快乐

because the festival originated partly as a commemoration of Qu Yuan, so “安康” (peace and health) is considered more appropriate and culturally elegant.

This afternoon, I conducted another site visit under JKP Zone 5 at the Kwang Tung Road commercial area, together with Cr Rahim, Chairman of the Public Health and Licensing Standing Committee, as well as officers from the Engineering, Landscape, Public Cleansing Management (PCM), Public Health and ...Licensing departments.

During the visit, we inspected the water flow conditions, drainage system, cleanliness of drains and surrounding areas, discharge outlets from commercial premises, bin centre facilities, and the condition of back staircases serving the shop lots.

We also took the opportunity to engage directly with business operators in the area to better understand the challenges they face and to discuss ways to improve cleanliness, maintenance, and environmental standards. A clean, safe and well-maintained commercial environment not only benefits businesses but also enhances the overall experience for customers and visitors.

As the Resident Committee Chairman for Zone 5, I remain committed to working closely with the relevant departments, business operators and the local community to identify issues on the ground and ensure timely follow-up actions are taken. Through continuous engagement and cooperation, we can create a cleaner, safer and more attractive city for everyone.

Honoured to deputise YB Datuk Sebastian Ting in officiating the Opening Ceremony of the Kejohanan Balapan Dan Padang Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan St Columba Kali Ke-69.

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate the school administration, teachers, organising committee, and all those ...involved for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the successful organisation of this long-standing sporting event.

The annual sports championship is more than just a competition for medals and records. It serves as an important platform to instil discipline, teamwork, perseverance, leadership and sportsmanship among students. These values will continue to guide them not only in sports but also in their future endeavours and daily lives.

It was encouraging to witness the enthusiasm and determination displayed by the student-athletes as they represented their respective houses with pride and passion. Whether in victory or defeat, the true spirit of sports lies in giving one’s best effort, respecting opponents, and learning valuable lessons through competition.

I would also like to extend my best wishes to all participants. May this championship continue to nurture young talents and inspire future athletes who will one day bring honour to their school, community, state and nation.

Bersama Tuan Haji Ariffin Bin Mohamad selaku Ketua Cawangan PBB Piasau merangkap Timbalan Datuk Bandar Miri, saya berkesempatan menziarahi Saudara Nor Mohamed yang sedang menerima rawatan di Hospital Miri.

Saya telah mengenali Saudara Nor Mohamed sejak beliau aktif di JKKK Kampung Lereng ...Bukit serta penglibatan beliau dalam PBB. Saya turut dimaklumkan oleh isteri beliau, Puan Norani, bahawa keadaan kesihatannya kini semakin stabil dan beliau telah dibenarkan pulang ke rumah untuk berehat serta meneruskan proses pemulihan.

Pada kesempatan ini, saya ingin merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan dan ucapan terima kasih kepada YB Datuk Sebastian Ting atas keprihatinan dan bantuan yang diberikan dalam menguruskan keperluan tong gas oksigen untuk kegunaan Saudara Nor Mohamed. Bantuan yang dihulurkan amat bermakna dan sedikit sebanyak dapat meringankan beban keluarga beliau ketika menghadapi saat yang mencabar ini.

Kami mendoakan agar Saudara Nor Mohamed terus diberikan kekuatan, ketabahan dan kesembuhan yang berpanjangan. Semoga segala urusan rawatan dan pemulihan beliau dipermudahkan serta beliau dapat kembali sihat untuk bersama keluarga.

Saudara Kah Furng and I visited the water collection point this evening to inspect the preparations. I am pleased to share that all necessary arrangements have been completed, and the facility is fully ready to serve the public should any households require water during this period.

This ...operation has been carefully planned and well coordinated by the relevant agencies, a significant improvement compared to the unexpected disruption in 2022, when the situation arose suddenly and caught many by surprise.

As of 8:30pm, it is drizzling in the CBD area. Let us hope and pray for favourable weather conditions at the work site so that the maintenance works can be carried out safely and without delay.

Most importantly, let us keep in our thoughts all the personnel working tirelessly through the night to ensure the job is completed successfully and that water supply can be restored to normal within the scheduled 24-hour period.

An update on the Jalan Hill repair works, the project is progressing according to schedule. 👍

The earth-filling and piling works have been completed, and the contractor is currently proceeding with the formwork construction for the drainage system.

The next critical stage will ...be the concrete pouring works. Hopefully, we will continue to have good weather conditions in the coming days so that the works can proceed smoothly and according to schedule.

Thank you to the contractor, engineers, and all parties involved for their continuous efforts in ensuring the repair works are carried out safely and efficiently. We look forward to seeing the project completed and the area restored for the benefit of residents and road users.
